Instacart Mobile Application: 3 Frequently Asked Questions by Users
Instacart has been getting a lot of attention lately, due to the fact that Covid-19 has changed the way we all shop, live and use transportation in the world today. With more people staying home and using on-demand delivery services for pretty much everything, Instacart is seeing some massive growth and usage across the board as well.
However, with more users, means more customer support and questions about not just the service and app, but also similar questions about each of the brands, products and services available through the application as well.
To help cater to the needs of such audiences, we wanted to highlight three of the most frequently asked questions in reference to the app, the service and what customers are looking for when trying Instacart for the first time.

How Do I Cancel My Instacart Account and/or Orders?
Take a moment to look up any mobile-based application or service and you will often see the same common questions, which consist of how to use, where to download, cost associated with, and how to cancel orders and accounts…
While the hundreds of thousands of users on Instacart will have many questions that come up over the lifetime of their membership and app usage, the most popular question asked by users of the website and app service is “how to cancel Instacart” — but this can also be seen as ‘how to cancel Instacart orders” as well.
This question is one of the most asked, simply because users may feel that they are being billed to use the application or service, or that they want to remove it from their mobile device and not have their account active, while also having their payment information still accessible. Or, users are looking for information on how to cancel an order they just recently placed through the site or application.
And both of these questions come with good concern, as there is a free version and a premium paid version of the service (which we will cover in the next section). Both versions have different fees and pricing structures in reference to order size, delivery and cancellations as well.
To answer this question, when trying to cancel an order, it’s often as simple as logging into your application or website account and going to your Orders section. From here you can review, edit and cancel orders accordingly.
When trying to cancel your account or app on your phone, this method can also be accomplished by using a DoNotPay mobile application as well, which recommends the following process:
- Open the DoNotPay app
- Select the ‘Find Hidden Money’ option
- Enter ‘Instacart’ in the search bar
- Cancel the service
If you are currently paying for the Instacart Express service through a membership, you will want to contact Instacart to make sure this is canceled and not going to be re-billed in the future.
Either way, if you have an active or idle Instacart account and simply don’t want it anymore, these are some of the best ways to immediately cancel your account.
How Much Does Instacart Cost?
Outside of the most popular question of how to cancel your account, another often asked question is in reference to how much Instacart actually costs.
In short, Instacart is free to use, but there will be additional delivery fees and possible pricing markups in product pricing.
There is also Instacart Express, which does have an associated price with it, but also comes with more benefits as well. As outlined on the Instacart site, the benefits and pricing structure of Instacart Express are as follows:
- $0 delivery fees on orders of $35 or more (typically starting at $3.99 for non-Express)
- Reduced service fees (typically starting at 5% for non-Express)*
- No busy pricing fees during peak delivery hours
- Shop at a variety of stores with free delivery on the entire order
An annual membership to Instacart Express is $99 and will be billed each year on the same date. If you choose the monthly membership, you’ll be charged $9.99 per month on the same day. The regular Instacart application and service is free, but does charge in delivery areas where Express might not.
With all of that being said, Instacart doesn’t charge a signup fee or a membership fee to use the app. However, they will have delivery fees in place on low-priced orders, and the individual prices of items purchased through the app may be higher than if they were purchased in-store.
What Stores and Brands Work with Instacart?
As you can imagine, Instacart is getting a lot of attention lately, but if they don’t have the shopping names and brands you love and use, what good is it?
With that being said, another popular question being asked by existing and future Instacart users, is what stores and brands can be found on the application.
According to MarketingDive, “Instacart delivery is available from about 350 retailers including Costco, Kroger and Gelsons, covering about 250,000 stores in North America.” — which include several names outside of just food delivery, like Bed Bath & Beyond, Acme, Costco, CVS, Petco, ShopRite, BigLots, Staples and many more.
This immediately tells us two things:
Many of the top big names are already working with Instacart
Brands that aren’t already, will likely have no choice but to participate soon
From the business side, Instacart is upping their efforts on the monetization and paid advertising side of the application as well. In fact, the more brands and shopping centers that continue to join the platform, the more competitive it will be — which further leads to more ad spend from such advertisers and brands.
The Growth of Instacart and Their Product Delivery Service
Like many other on-demand delivery applications in the world today, Instacart is quickly building a name for themselves while also completely changing the industry in the process. And just like Uber and Lyft, Instacart has established themselves as the key player in the online shopping and food delivery space.
As reported by CNET, Instacart has seen a more than 300% rise in demand during 2020 due to the global effects of Covid-19. And not only has the usage of the app increased, but so has the number of people discovering and using the service as well. Such numbers have increased from 200,000 shoppers to 350,000.
And as you can imagine, these numbers will only continue to grow. The big question is… when the global pandemic is over, will people go back and shop as they normally did, or is the concept of using on-demand delivery services just a sign of the new normal?
If you are currently an active user of Instacart, or have removed the application from your mobile device, let us know in the comments section below. We’d love to hear your input on the service.
